Postoperative Care & Lifestyle
- Early mobilization after surgery; bed exercises (like bridging) are allowed.
- Drink at least 3000ml of water daily.
- Avoid large movements, such as taking large steps, climbing stairs, squatting, kneeling, and lifting heavy objects.
- Avoid staying in one position for too long, such as standing, sitting, or walking for more than 20 minutes.
- When sleeping or resting, keep your legs spread apart. Do not bend your legs or keep them closed for long periods to avoid pressing on the wound.
- Before the wound heals, elevate your legs and apply ice packs to reduce swelling. After healing, switch to warm compresses to promote circulation.
- Keep the wound dry. After using the toilet or douching, pat dry with a clean towel. If necessary, use a fan or hair dryer on cool or warm setting to dry before changing dressings.
- Wipe from front to back after using the toilet.
- When showering, do not spray the wound directly with the showerhead. Let water flow down from the abdomen, and use your fingers with soap or body wash to clean the labial folds and around the clitoris.
- Do not go to swimming pools or public hot springs before the wound is fully healed.
- You can resume riding motorcycles, bicycles, and sexual activity 3-6 months after surgery.
- For intestinal vaginoplasty, a low-residue soft diet is required for 2 weeks. Before eating solid food, watery or loose stools several times a day are normal. Stools will form after eating solid food.
- For intestinal vaginoplasty, discharge will gradually decrease after 3-6 months. Initially, change sanitary pads frequently (every 3-4 hours) to prevent infection.
Recovery Tips
